Q1 :what is an expert system?
a program that embodies problem solving knowledge of a human expert
Q2:write and explain expert system components?
(1) know ledge base:
a declarative representation of the expertise,often in IF THEN rules.
(2)inference engine:
the code at the core of the system which derives recommendations from the knowledge base and problem-specific data in working storage
(3)user interface:
the code that controls the dialog between the user and the system
(4)expert:
the individuals who currently are experts solving the problems the system is intend to solve
(5)knowledge engineer:
the individuals who encodes the expert's knowledge in a declarative form that can be used by the expert system
(6)user:
the individuals who will be consulting with the system to get advice which would have been provided by the expert
Q3:list the steps of building expert system?
(1) introduction to expert systems and to domain
(2)feasibility study
(3)build production system
(4)field using
Q4:what is meant by explanation?compare between HOW an WHY explanation?
explanations:expert system seek to make problem solving knowledge explicit
HOW:
1-work back through the inference chain
2-decision 4 was made as a result of making decision 1 and decision2
3-decision1 was made because facts 1,2&3 are true,etc
WHY:
1-the system must state its current goal
2-the system may ask the user if fact3 is true because it is trying to determine if decision I should be made

i-knowledge engineering:

the hardest technical problem in building an expert system
